After clicking on the option “Internet Information Services” you will be able to see the option “FTP Server”. Kindly click on the option “FTP Server” and give a tick mark in the blank small empty box.

Now beside “FTP Server” option you will find a small + symbol, you have to click on it to see the other FTP options.

Once you click on the small + symbol beside the “FTP Server” you will be able to see an option “FTP Extensibility” kindly click in the empty box of the option and give a tick mark to proceed further with the installation process of FTP server in windows 10.

Below “FTP Extensibility” option you will be able to see “Web Management Tools” option

kindly click on “Web Management Tools”and give a tick mark on all the options to proceed further by clicking on OK button to complete the Installation process of FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server in your Windows 10 PC.

Search “Control panel” in your windows search bar.

Select the option “Administrative Tools”

Once you click on “ADD FTP Site” you will be able to see two blank options “FTP Site name” and the “Physical Path”

The next step is to select the path where you want to save the FTP server site, you can create a NEW Folder for “FTP Server” in any drive and select the particular folder and click on OK button to proceed further with FTP site configuration process.

Now, select your IP address from the given drop down list, find your IP address for the connected internet connection.

To find an IP address in Windows 10 PC, firstly you have to click on the Windows Icon beside “Type here to search” TAB.
You will be able to see the “Settings” option, kindly click on it.
Next step is to click on “Network & Internet” option

After selecting IP kindly select the option “No SSL” and click on next button.

Firstly type “Windows Firewall” in the windows search type bar to find the “Windows Firewall” settings option.

Now you will be able to find the option “Allow an App or feature” kindly click on it.

Steps to gain access to send/receive files using FTP server externally (Internet)

First step is to “Windows key” and Alphabet “R” both together to run the command. (Windows + R)
Type CMD in the blank box and click on ok button.

Now you have to type the command “ipconfig” and click the enter button in your keyboard.

You will be able to see the IP address of your windows PC starting with 192.**** kindly note the IP address somewhere in Notepad or in a page.

Next step is to open the web browser and enter the noted IP address and hit the enter button.

Now you will get a pop-up for the login credentials, you have to enter the Routers “Username” and the valid “Password” of the internet connectivity and click on continue TAB.

Next step is to navigate your mouse cursor to WAN settings and find the “Port Forwarding” option.

Note: You have to create a New Port to access the FTP server externally for sending/receiving the files.

To create a new Port you have to set up a new service name any favorable name will work!

Service name (any favorable name)
Port Range “21”
Local IP: Your previously noted IP address by commanding “ipconfig”
Protocol: Enter “TCP”

How to upload files on FTP server in Windows 10 PC?

Type “File Explorer” in your windows search bar opens the option in your windows 10 PC.

Kindly open the file explorer in your windows 10 PC and type “ftp://198.***” in the address bar.

Note: You have to enter the previously noted IP address in the search bar of file explorer along with

Ftp: //

You will get a pop-up to get logged into the FTP server to upload the files, kindly input the valid user name and password,

Now click on “Log On” button to upload the small-big files using the FTP server.

How to provide access to other users to get into the FTP folder?

Search “Control panel” in windows search bar

Select the option “Administrative tools”

Next step is to double click on IIS “Internet Information Services” manager.

Now you will be able to see the Site TAB, click on it to see the FTP server.

Click on FTP server to get the option “Authorization Rules”

Next step is to right click on “Authorization Rules” to find the option “Add Allow Rules” click on it

Now enter your windows 10 PC, FTP name and proceed further by granting permission to the other users by their IP address or name and click on OK button to save the changes that you made.

How to add a new user to the FTP folder?

To add a new user to the FTP folder, firstly you have to visit the FTP folder that you have setup in your Windows 10 PC.

Next is to right click on the FTP folder and scroll your mouse cursor to the “properties” option.

Now you have to click on the “Security” option and select the “Edit” button.

You will be able to see the “Add button” to proceed further to add a new user to the FTP folder.

Kindly input the new users name and click on the “Check Names” icons to confirm whether you have entered a valid user name or not!

If you find the entered name accurate then add the user and provide permissions to the newly added user to access the FTP folder.
