How does it work?

Well before we talk of how DNS Address works, the first thing that we need to understand is what is basically a DNS Address.DNS Address refers to Domain Name System Address. The basic thing is done-they convert the names to IP addresses.

For example, when you go to Google and something there such as or anything else, then the computer at times might not perceive the required information. At this point of time the DNS functions and tells the computer where exactly the IP address is. And that’s how it works in order to help the computer.

The way it works is quite simple and easy, just like a phonebook. The DNS looks for the IP address for an entered domain name and provides you with the result that helps you do your work. But this procedure makes your internet speed much slower, which may make it difficult for you to work.

How to Change?

As already said, having a different DNS address really does help you in many ways, such as the most important advantage is that they speed up your internet speed. You might be thinking that doing this is a very difficult job, but it is actually not. You can very easily change your DNS Address by just following some simple steps. You can even change your DNS Address as many times you want; there is no fixed limit to that as well.

Two commonly used DNS addresses are Google and Open DNS. Open DNS offers more than a simple DNS address, that too if you register an account with them. Below mentioned are certain simple and easy steps that will help you in changing your DNS address easily without facing any difficulty.

Listed below are the steps you would follow to change  your DNS Address for Windows 7,8,8.1 and 10:

Step 1:

First of all, go to the start menu, click on it and go to the control panel.

Step 2:

After you open control panel, now go to Network and Sharing Center.

Step 3:

At the third step, have a look at the left side of the window and choose change adapter settings.

Step 4:

When you are done with the third step, now what you need to do is to right click on your connection and then choose the properties.

Step 5:

Now, as you scroll down, you would find “This connection uses the following items”, now click on it and below you will find another option. Keep scrolling down until you find the option which says “Inter Protocol Version 4 (TCP /IPv4)”, as soon as you find that select it and click on Properties.

Step 6:

Now on the lower end of the window, you would be required to click on Use the following DNS server address. Now the numbers that you would be entering here would be different be it for Open DNS or Google DNS.

Step 7:

Now when you open Google’s DNS and here you would see two options, one is Preferred DNS, and the other is Alternate DNS. Under Preferred DNS server type in 8.8.8 and under the Alternate DNS server type in and press OK.

Step 8:

Now, when you choose Open DNS, there also you get to have two options just like Google’s DNS, but here as said the numbers are different, hence here in the place of Preferred DNS you need to type 67.222.222 and in place of Alternate DNS you will be needed to type in and then simply click on ok.

And at this very step, you complete your process of changing the DNS Address.
